Compensation

Our full-time hourly rates are consistently above local market averages, with pay ranging from $18 to $20 per hour, depending on recent experience and qualifications.

Temporary Position

This is a full-time temporary position beginning immediately and continuing through the end of August. The Substitute Teacher will provide classroom support and maintain continuity of care and learning while covering staffing needs during this period.

Position Summary

We are seeking a caring, energetic, and dependable Full-Time Substitute Teacher to support our preschool classrooms by maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with preschool-aged children and is comfortable assisting in different classrooms as needed while supporting daily routines, learning activities, and a collaborative teaching team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom coverage for Lead and Assistant Teachers as assigned.
  • Assist with daily classroom activities, lessons, and routines.
  • Support children during learning experiences, transitions, meals, rest periods, and outdoor play.
  • Foster positive social interactions while encouraging independence and self-help skills.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Prepare, organize, and clean classroom materials, learning centers, and activity spaces.
  • Supervise and actively engage with children during indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Participate in classroom projects, school events, and team initiatives as needed.
  • Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and state licensing regulations.
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with staff members and families when appropriate.
  • Adapt quickly to different classrooms and teaching styles while providing consistent support.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Genuine passion for working with young children.
  • Strong commitment to providing a positive, nurturing, and engaging experience for every child.
  • Ability to actively participate in classroom activities, including floor play and outdoor supervision.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable, flexible, punctual, respectful, and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and orderly classroom environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and remain active throughout the workday.
  • Ability to adapt to changing classroom assignments and schedules.
  • Successful criminal background check.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to commute to Dripping Springs or Southwest Austin.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in childcare, preschool, daycare, summer camp, nannying, or educational settings.
  • Coursework, certification, or interest in Early Childhood Education.
  • Familiarity with child-led, play-based, STEAM, Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Waldorf, or nature-based educational approaches.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Interest in gardening, nature exploration, music, movement, yoga, art, or outdoor education.
